Friday the 27th of July brought us the biggest
sporting event ever to hit our streets. Were we ready for it? I wasn’t sure,
but we gave the world something to shout about and London definitely had
something to be proud of.
A fellow Londoner, I was part of the 70, 000 games makers who
had volunteered over the two weeks.
The below sums up my games maker journey:
The cheers, the gasps, the rush, the buzz, the pins, the
pride, the flags, the sweat, the tears,
the blasts, the nods, the blood, the face paint, the commute, the chocolate, the
panic, the stadium, the uniform, the army, the banter, the pictures, the children,
the weather , the athletes, the devotion, the excitement, the atmosphere, the
random chats, the ‘thank yous’, the face
paint, the ticket-less, the
walk-way, the anticipation, the disappointment, the patriarchy, the spillages, the
commitment, the purple army and the triumphs.
Thank you London 2012 for making this the best British sporting event ever!
The countdown to the Paralympics begins…
